Sights of Luang Prabang

24, 25, 26 December 2012

We had a day cruising around on bikes and visited all the sights (I only lasted a couple of hours ). This is another tourist area but a very nice city.
We visited the waterfalls on Christmas day where we saw some Sun bears.

I was not getting better so we decided to fly to Chiang Mai in Thailand for superior medical treatment.

Bike Tour of Luang Prabang

The royal palace

There were some interesting pictures on the outside of some of the buildings in the complex

A large buddha shrine

We crossed the 'old bridge'. A bridge only for motorbikes, bikes and pedestrians.

The daily night market.

We climbed to the top of Phu Si to watch the sunset over the city alone with 100 other people.

There were great views from the Wat at the top

Very nice

Christmas Day

Christmas Day in Luang Prabang. We got each other these cool animal stuffed toys from the markets

Kuang Si Waterfalls. There were several cascades and waterfalls over limestone formations into big green pools

Glenn jumping off the tree

Karen thinking about taking a jump

At the entrance to the waterfalls there were several Sun Bears that had been rescued from poachers. They were all playing with each other in their enclosures.

The sun bears are quite small compared to a panda or black bear

Thats a huge leaf

Spending some time in hospital on Christmas Day.

Glenn learnt have to weave and dye cloth.
