Titisee and Sulzberg

16 October 2011

What a night. That was definitely our last night of camping. We woke up to minus temperatures with our tent completely frozen and thick white frost over everything and mist throughout the valley.

After a foggy day on the road passing alongside the Bodensee we had a great night with Ute, Daniel and their flatmates catching up over Allgaeu kase spatztse and few a beers in there little village just outside Kempten.

Our tent was frozen solid

Our worst frost in Europe so far left a thick layer of ice all over the ground, car and trees

Carved wooden Gnome on the side of a forest path

Early morning fog across Titisee

Looking out across the boat ramp you couldnt see anything for a few hours

Forest track to get to the lake

Ice all over Karens jacket as she brushed against the tent

By midday the fog cleared and we had a nice sunny day. This is looking across the lake from the town centre

Autumn is here and all the leaves on the oaks are turning yellow, orange and red as they fall off the trees. We stopped here in Neustadt for a little look around but like every Sunday in Germany everything is closed and nothing was happening

We travelled along past the Bodensee. Most of the day we hit more thick fog.

A vineyard along the Bodensee

We tried some 'Pizza Liebe Kaese' today and it was so good

We arrived in Schmieden a small village in Kemptem to visit Ute and Daniel. Had had a walk around the village and saw the sun set over the Bavarian Alps

Ute, Daniel and us.
