Day 3: Beaugency to Orlean/Olivet 35km

9 September 2011

It was a short day of riding today which gave a chance to enjoy some French food and the city of Orlean. We couchsurfed with a french couple Max and Kath?? in Olivet. They took us out for dinner at the French restaurant which had over 100 beer choices. We had a great night trying a few beers and eating crepes.

There were heaps of frogs on the river banks

Enjoying the sun after a rainy start to the morning

Trying some french food at a fancy restaurant in Orlean. Karen ordered some wine and the waiter brought it out and showed me the bottle, I just sat there wondering what he was doing, he then poured a bit in my glass and wanted me to try it instead of just pouring us a glass and he didnt leave until I tried it. This was our introduction into French customs.

The very big cathedral in Orlean. I really like this one as its different from all the ones we have seen before

Karen was addicted to crepes after trying her first one in the main square

The name of the French beer I tried was 'Pants down'

Kath and Karen at the cool little pub called absinth.

We stopped in Olivet for the night which is a town on the other side of the river to Orlean
