Day 2: Blois to Beaugency 50km

8 September 2011

We travelled again along cycle paths through the country passing fields of flowers, grain, sunflowers and through small villages. There were apple orchards, peaches, pears, grapes, walnuts everywhere and ready to pick. All along the river over the last two days we have seen several Chateau's (French castles) so we decided to stop at the most impressive one - Chateau du Chambord (Chambord castle).

A unique little house in one of the villages covered in Ivy

The main spiral staircase in the centre of the castle

Exploring the top level of the castle. The architecture was stunning.

The moat around the castle

Most rooms were decorated in this interesting ceiling with F's and dragons (apparently standing for I FEED?)

One of the many trophy rooms lined with deer antlers

We came across this Nuclear Power station along the river.

We make it to Beaugency where we stay the night at a youth hostel
