Day trip to Lago di Garda

21 June 2011

We got up early this morning to head to Lazise on the lake. After an accidental scenic trip up the hill above Verona (right bus, wrong direction) we got to the small village of Lazise. We did a quick tour of the town then walked along the lake side to Bardolino (Mark couldn't resist a swim along the way) where we had crepes for lunch, including a pear, chocolate and hazelnut desert one (yum!) Both towns were very touristy with lots of shops and restaurants but not a lot else. Most of the tourists were German- Mark thought it was pritty funny when the gelatio lady was speaking in German to me and I had no idea it wasn't Italian. Tonight, Mark has cooked us another delicous meal complete with a bottle of wine and strawberries for desert

Each town along the lake had its own old town wall fortress. This was the entrance to Lazise

The best pasta ever made into the shapes of wine bottles, grapes, houses.......reminds me of those pasta letters we used to get in our soup

Time for a dip in the almost non existent beaches around the lake.

Another church for the trip in Bardolino
