We are stoked to reach the coast
The seals put on a scene for us
Andriy gets friendly with his hush
Our awesome camp site and fire on the coast between two seal colonies
We break 1000km today : )
Day 11 (Dec 13) Cheviot(from farm) to near Clarence 82.6km =1053km total
We finally saw the coast!!! Unbelievably stoked to see the ocean again!!! The road was pretty sweet too as it went all along the coast - it would of been even sweeter if we didnt have shitty headwind.
With the headwing in our faces it was pretty hard to go fast, and not easy to go slow either, but going slow meant that we could stop often. We had to stop as there were seals everywhere! We were told that we'd smell them before we see them - they smell like shit, actually, more like vomit, that bile-sort of stuff! Even though they were pretty used to tourists some were not too happy with us waking them up (and pissing off a few for the camera), but its ok, we had good fun. The perks of being dominant species i guess!
Ohh, great news! I got a mascot for the bike - Frank the Blue Whale! Keep an eye out for him!
So the whole day was full of seals and more seals and coast and more coast and head wind....lots of it! So by the time the night came we were nackered, but got lucky with another smashing sleepinghole! Only 10m from the water, great views, sheltered by the bush and with a campfire set up for us with benches! Had to take advantage of that and had a mean feast of roasted buns with tuna and marshmellows!
Big event of today was that we finally clocked 1,000km on our speedo, we are hard now :)
