Andriy gets smashed in his first crash with a road cone
The crazy cat at the place we stayed
Day 10 (Dec 12) Christchurch to Cheviot 119km =970km total
Not that exciting today, but 100x better then the road between Ashburton and CChurch as it wasnt too boring. The rolling hills were pretty nice for a change and to top it all off we had a nice tail wind (2nd time in this trip).
The biggest excitment of the day was when i decided to take on a road cone - the road cone won and i ended up doing a free flight over the handlebars (no airpoints for that). So thats another first on this trip - first crash. A few minuets of catchin my breath and i was back on the bike but with a wicked elbow, finger and thigh gash, dont worry, my flag didnt break - but the sunglasses did.
I was pretty stoked to get into Cheviot even though the other cyclists werent that fond of it i needed a feed and a medikit - which they provided. In the pub met these alsome people, Greg and Di who took us in for the night into the shelter of their 320,000 acre farm! We woke up in the morning to bacon and eggs and were ready to hit the road again! Was sweet to have some Kiwi hospitality, thanks guys!
