After roughing it at the airport we caught an early flight to Bilbao spain. We stayed at this wicked hostel on the main street of the old city. This city is so different from what we have seen in Europe so far. With modern architecture and a very laid back atmosphere we are so happy to be in Spain.
Because of our early checkin time to fly to Spain and no public transport in the morning we had a fun night sleeping at Rome airport. We pulled out our sleeping bags and set up camp in terminal 2 along with heaps of others doing the same.
The garden of hands in the old city
Protestors who have set up camp along the river who want Basque to be separated from the rest of Spain.
A huge swimming race on the river
The Guggenheim museum - the biggest attraction in Bilbao. Known for its incredible modern and contemporary architecture and art. The outside is made of layered steel and glass like fish scales and no wall inside or outside of the building is straight.
Outside sculpture at the Guggenheim (you can see our reflection in each of the objects if you look close)
The museum was full of crazy sculptures and exhibitions like this one
Gallery of steel maze objects
Large flower puppy
Main bridge into town
Pedestrian bridge across
We felt pretty spoilt staying in this flash hostel. This is the view from the balcony
