We did the blue lagoon scooter tour today through the mountains of Vang Vieng. An amazing area full of limestone caves, sheer mountain sides, remote villages and rough as guts roads.
We stopped an a small village and followed a steep track leading to the top of Pha Ngeun.
Vang Vieng in the distance from the top of the mountain
View across the plains. The rock was really sharp, like metal
We explored the Poukham Caves.
Buddha shrine near the entrance of the cave
There were several huge caverns with large stalactites and stalagmites. We went deep inside the cave and found many drop offs, tunnels and caverns.
Outside the caves is a small stream with crystal clear water
We had a great time jumping off the trees, and using the rope swing.
Poukham Cave and lagoon. You can see the hole into the cave half way up the mountain.
Everywhere we went we saw these mini tractor machines that worked machines and pulled carts.
Along the road there were 20+ buffallo swimming in the mud. It was a weird sight to stumble across.

The locals dammed the river over the ford and made a couple of small bridges so they could create a toll. And not cheap at 15,00kip per motorbike
Bridge across the stream
Rocks in the background used to dam the ford.
