With big snapper around and plenty of kingfish in the water we decided to join a fishing charter from Tairua out to the Aldermen Islands.
We fished well into the night and caught lots of eels and then shark after shark after shark.
The next day the weather was too rough to head out for kingfish so we tried to go out for some big snapper in the deeper water and finally found some fish.
We set up anchor overnight to wake up to this amazing sheltered cove
A big hot breakie to get us going for the morning.

Our rods waiting for to hook into some fish
Heading to another fishing spot. The aldermens themselves have the largest population of Tuatara in the world.
The entire Aldermen Island group as we motored back to Tairua. We managed to spot a group of dolphins that rode the wake.
