We found that this city doesnt wake up until about 11am so at 8am the streets are bare and you can walk around without having to worry about bumping into anyone.
We spent an hour at the tourist office with the nicest, most friendly information person we have meet on the trip. She told us everything to know about the city and created an action packed itinerary for the next few days so we could see everything Hong Kong has to offer.
We are enjoying the different types of food. We had a great lunch of pork dumplings, pork balls, spring rolls, dim sim, and a weird soup with all sorts in it.
Bad table manners are the norm here so I feel right at home. The locals finish their meal and there is food all over the table and floor. Im still unsure if this is because they use chopsticks or if its just a sign that they enjoyed the food.
We spent the day wandering exploring the jade markets, fish markets, bird markets, flower markets, fruit markets, clothes markets and night markets. They have every sort of markets here so if you like markets then this is the place to be. We had a lot of fun haggling with the locals.
We walked through some parks all with this unique fascinating architecture.
The store owners at the markets are excellent actors. We chatted to some at the jade markets walking in not wanting anything and came out with a big jade dragon.
Tai Sin Temple. We were welcomed into the temple with a huge cloud of insence smoke. This was an experience being the first buddist temple we have been into.
A typical view of the Kowloon area in Hong Kong where everyone lives in these big apartment buildings and has their clothes drying out their window.
The fruit looks amazing on the outside but all our nectarines were rotten. I think we will wait until we get home to have some more fruit.
The fish markets sold turtles, carp, gold fish, exotic fish, sea fish........
It was a bit cliche seeing a restaurant in between two fish shops.
The flower markets.
Exploring the ladies market
Every night Hong Kong has 'The Symphony of Lights' the worlds best light and Laser show.
We stood on the waterfront where the lights and lasers performed in time with the music. There were over 44 buildings taking part
There were some bands playing along the waterfront to keep us entertained.
We walked along the 'Avenue of stars' and found Jackie Chans star. It was the only famous Hong Kong person we knew.
If you havent had enough of the markets during the day then there is also the night markets and all these stalls of fortune tellers.
