The ranking races and selection over the weekend went well for me. I did not paddle as fast as I could and I was not as focused as I would have liked to be, but my clean solid runs were enough to get me some very competitive two first places followed closely by James and then Hamish. Aaron took out the K1 mens and Diata (Aussie) the K1W.
The camp over the last few days was very valuable to me with many new approaches to racing and training that I can apply to my own paddling and also areas of technique that I can improve on which will make me faster in the coming weeks and months.
Im now in palmy getting ready for the next two NZ ranking races at the weekend with the Sunday also being the second senior selection race and Oceania Championships. It will be good having the aussie senior team over here racing with us.
