Tarawera Falls

Native Bush from the top of the mountain

The river bank, Tarawera River
23 January 2007
We had the afternoon off today after the first camp finished so I headed up to Tarawera falls, on the river where I learnt to paddle. All those memories came back with my first Eskimo roll, the big rapids (which now look so small lol). The walk itself was just like I remember it, clean, clear crystal blue water, with the river disappearing into the ground and then bursting half way out of the mountain, surrounded by native New Zealand bush, definitely one of my favourite places in the country : )
