Awesome race : ) through to finals in 33rd place

Me during qualifications

4/8/06

Today was race day for C1s and K1 woman. I felt really good this morning as my muscles were feeling refreshed and pumped and I felt like I knew the course really well.

I pulled out an amazingly fast clean first run. I was up there beating a lot of the top guys. I got all the hard stagger moves, spins, holes and upstreams really well leaving me with a highly competitive time and in 29th place after first runs.
My second run was 2 seconds slower with a 2 second touch. I lost this time down the bottom half of the course as the lactic acid started to creep in. This was also a very solid run which made me slip only a couple of places into 33rd spot with 3/4 second separating me from 30th place

James also paddled well. He ended up 44th after making some small mistakes and gaining three touches which pushed him out of the top 40.

This was an EXCELLENT qualifications race for me, easily getting me through to the finals on Sunday. I race C1 teams tomorrow morning with Hamish and James. We have not had much teams practice, but nevertheless think a top 10 placing is achievable.

The K1 men also had their teams run today. They were a little off the pace in first runs and then gained some 50’s in their second run which left them out of the top 10 finishing in 16th place.
