Torridon and Applecross

2 August 2011

In Torridon we planned to stay with Karen's friend Kate. We arrived there about 9pm and surprised her as she wasn't expecting us till the next day. We played a game of Monopoly in the pub while we waited for Kate to finish her shift before catching up over a beer and calling it a night. We were lucky enough to be given Kate's room for the night. The next day we headed to Gairloch with Kate and 2 of her work friends desperate to get away, with the expectation of seeing some highland games. Unfortunately as we arrived there Karen re-read the calender of events and realised the games had taken place exactly 1 month ago. We decided to have lunch instead then headed to the pier to see about going on a wildlfe cruise. As our luck would have it they were all booked out, but after seeing long lists of all the animals they saw each day we decided to book for the next day. Kate had heard great reviews about a pub in a place called Applecross so we decided to head there for dinner. The drive there was some of the most scenic roads we have been on and Applecross itself was a nice sheltered bay with a handfull of houses and a pub. The sun had finally come out and we spent the rest of the afternoon drinking and eating by the water.

We go for a hike up to a little waterfall
