We had to tick off Wales highest peak after already doing Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike. So we headed up Snowdon today along the Miners Track and back down the Llanberis track. An overcast day from Pen y Pass made nice walking and great views from the summit before the weather clouded in with only 20 metres visibility and constant rain all the way down.
Along the Llanberis path the train track runs parrallel which was built in the late 1800's to transport slate to the ships. The first day when we were in the bus from a distance we saw all this smoke rising from the mountain and we though someone was playing a prank to make people think the mountain was erupting (like Mark Ellis lighting the fire inside Rangitoto) but it was just the coal stream train making its way to Snowdon Summit.

It was an overcast day but there were great mirror views on lake Llydaw
The first big climb
There was this amazing sheer ridge alone the edge of the lake to the summit
The cloud started building up on the edge of the mountain as we reached the saddle

We reach the peak of Snowdon at 1085m

The train station at the summit
Its not often you get the the top of a massive mountain in the middle of nowhere and find a heated train station with cafe and souvenir shops. We enjoyed escaping from the rain and warming up before we made our descent.
