I didnt feel like I got close enough to the bulls yesterday so I ran again and this time managed to run within a metre of the main group of bulls just after dead mans corner. I then was able to run alongside the last 4 trailing steers into the Arena which was wicked. Here is the video from the run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwpszc-hhkU&feature=related
When they let the baby bulls into the ring one of the baby bulls somehow cleared the fence in the arena where everyone thought they were save. It was hilarious watching the police and spectators jumping into the ring as the bull ran around where the spectators were. I jumped in with a couple of the bulls and keep freaking out every time the small bulls got near me as yesterday 4 people had been knocked out. A great adrenalin rush.
After an exciting morning our entire tour group had a nice relaxing day out the beach town of San Sebastian on the northern coast. We swam at the beach, visited a couple of Tapas bars and walked up to the statue of jesus.
Then we had the closing ceremony and tried out some rides at the fun fair.
The main pedestrian street of San Sebastian
The main square used to be used a s a bull fighting ring.
Testing some tapas at a tapas bar
Some more yummy tapas. Every bar you go to they are all different
Looking out towards the surf beach and river mouth from the walk up to jesus
Basque Country flag
This was the fort of the castle where the jesus statue was.
The jesus statue complete with with radio and tv mast. We no longer have to go to Rio de Janiero.
View of the city
The gang of kiwis, aussies, brits and scots.
Closing ceremony at the town hall
Everyone lighted candles for the closing. The locals seemed really sad as I guess after 7 days you just dont want it to end.
We all held up our bandanas and finally put them on our wrists to represent that the festival was over for another year. However they love the running of the bulls so much that they have a practice opening ceremony on the 1st Jan, 2nd Feb, 3rd March, 4th April, 5th March, 6th June before the feast starts again on the 7th July next year.
Riding the bulls at the fair ground
Kiwi frank kept falling off but the people running the ride made him keep going and wouldnt let him off : )
It wouldnt be a proper funfair without candyfloss and churros
Lennin wanted to test out his strength at this nail hitting stand. If you hit the nail into the wood in three strikes you got 3 beers. Off course it wasnt possible
