Yesterday we couldn't find any available accomodation in the Cinque Terre area so decided to go to the tourist office in La Spezia for help. We arrived there at 10.30am and were handed a booklet containing phone numbers of accomodation options, and a map to an internet cafe......5 hours, 1 internet cafe, 2 phone booths, and 2 train rides (one to the wrong place) later, we arrived at at overpriced, poorly equiped campsite in Deiva Marina which had us down a little.
Things learnt:
- book ahead when going to tourist places on weekends.
- a kiwi smile doesnt always get you a room in already booked out hotels, hostels and apartments.
- dont trust Italien public phones, they eat your money.
- when nothing seems to work go have a gelato, it makes you feel better : )
First thing this morning we moved to a better campsite 100m down the road before setting of on a walk towards Levanto. The walk was pretty rugged and tough and had some good views and nice villages. The heat really got to us though and we only made it as far as Bonassola, where we had a swim and a stroll through the town before heading back to the campsite.
No New Zealand beach, you have to fight for a bit of ground here....and this was when it wasnt very busy
Deiva Marina
On our way to Framura looking north up the coast. You can see a massive cruise ship heading up the coast aswell
Looking towards Framura, Bonassola and Levanto.
Cool little old village of Anzo in Framura with all these tiny cobbled streets and paths leading everywhere.
Everyone trying to find a place to swim on this 30 degree day
Cooling off at Bonassola beach
These ladies had made all the pictures around Bonassola from coloured sand and flowers
