After hosting some couch surfers in Whakatane we decided to have a go ourselves. We stayed with an older couple in Trento near the Dolomite alps. We spent an afternoon with Aliena and Salvatore who took us on a big walk around Trento and told us all about the problems in Italy and also about the food. They were teachers so they talked and we listened! They cooked us traditional italian pasta and we had a second course of buffelo mozzeralla and tomatos along with some very nice Trento red wine (well, Mark thought so)
A walk around trento
Stream running through the main town
Our yummy italien dinner
Aliena and Salvatore take us for the best gelato in Trento
Trento is famous for the frescoes (painting on the buildings) throughout the town
We were in town at the right time for a festival of one of the saints where they had live music and a fashion parade
