Heading back up North

We stopped in cromwell for some fresh fruit and also checked out the Cromwell Chafer reserve.

It was the first insect reserve in the world. This small reserve is the only place in the world this beetle can be found

Clyde Dam

The Lindis Pass was closed for 5hrs due to a big car crash. We hung out at Tarras for a few hours before getting across

We decided to stay the night at Lake Pukaki

Spillway from Lake Pukaki

Massive ramp on the spillway that would be perfect to slide down in a kayak.

Our campsite beside the lake with a view of Mt Cook in the background. Actually Mt Cook is covered in cloud like it is 90% of the time

After a massive drive up north the next day we caught the Interislander across Cook Straight to Wellington

As soon as we reached the end of Marlborough Sound we came across 3m swells

There were people puking all over the boat. It was quite exciting as this is the first time I have experienced the crossing like this.

Heading through Wellington harbour on Thurday evening

The next day we stopped in Taupo where they were having the jetsprint boat racing.

The helicopters were following the boats only 3 metres off the water which was quite exciting

Our time in Te Anau has come to an end. We are really sad to leave as its been an awesome few months down there which has given a a taste of this AMAZING place. Fiordland is one of the most incredible places I have been and I will definitely be back to explore the endless mountains, forests and fiords.

It took us three days to make it back up North to Whakatane. We are managing Quayside Apartments, a large apartment complex in the middle of town. We are really looking forward to this new exciting challenge.
