Tongas national museum which we were able to look through in 4 minutes.
The king of tongas mansion.
We went to the far end of the island so Karen could see the foraging pigs in the beach shallows. This happens everyday where hundreds of pigs eat all the shellfish at low tide.
We decided to explore Anahulu caves on the east side of the island
The caves were dirty and run down but still had this amazing clean underground pool inside.
We both had a swim and explored with our torches. The deepest part must have been 5 metres deep and there were even fish and what looked to be a sea snake in there.
Karen and I explore some smaller holes to find some really nice caverns and even some bones : (
At one of the beaches Karens found hundreds of these blue tailed skinks sunniny themselves on the rocks
Our red racing machine. Our 120cc scooter was a great way to get around the rugged roads of the main island
We went back to the blow holes at full tide for some impressive water sprays
Karen checks out one fo the blowholes
Weetbix, the little dog at Tonis guest house had about 20 dog friends that came to visit. In Tonga there are hundreds of dogs everywhere.
23 August 2010
We had an awesome last day exploring the island by scooter. The main roads around the island were rough as and almost non existant at times so we were able to find some really nice isolated beaches.
We flew back to New Zealand late to finish off our 8 day winter getaway
