Wharekirauponga loop walk - Coromandel Forest Park

4 March 2012

We have now been living in Tauranga for a couple of weeks. With a windy weather report for the weekend we decided to head out to the batch at Whangamata. We had a fun couple of days - caught lots of kahawai, ate yummy food and tramped out to a waterfall and old gold mining tunnels

This gold mine tunnel went a long way into the mountain

We walked alongside this stream for most of the tramp. It was quite monotonous and muddy but a nice little track through native forest.
