I have been making the most of the delayed NZ summer after all that rain at the start of January. Have been out at Whangamata, fishing in the Waitemata and brewing beer.
Crossing over to the Island at low tide Whangamata
We were out fishing in the middle of the ocean when Max caught a huge John Dory that fell off his rode just as he pulled it into the boat. With a strong current it was out of reach of the net in a few seconds on the surface of the water, Dad couldnt let such a big fish drift away so jumped in after it
We had a go on a stand up paddle board. I think I might stick with the kayak as it isnt really my thing
Another mint sunset across the Tamaki estuary
We have been catching lots of big fish this summer. This is a 1.6kg snapper tania caught
Kahawai are everywhere at the moment. The ones at whangamata were massive.
