Panama canal and refuge park

The miraflor lock

Water rising in the left lock to allow these boats to travel further up the canal

A big container ship heading through the lock towards the pacific. The six trains pulled and steered the ship through the lock.

The ship heading into the second level of the lock. This ship would cost $200,000USD to pass through the locks

A playful toucan at the refuge park

These cool monkeys we play fighting when we stopped by

This sloth had just been rescued by the park. It looks really friendly but every time anyone came close is swung those 3 shark claws

3 December 2009

We went out to the miraflores lock today, one of the 3 locks along the panama canal. It was really impressive seeing such large ships going through such a tiny waterway.

In the afternoon between rain showers we went to the summit botanical garden and zoo which had some cool animals and loads of monkeys
