A massive frog I found, they are everywhere at night

A scorpion that doesnt sting

One of the light traps we set at the edge of the rain forest

Robert and his family who took us into the forest for the night

The train that took us out to the refuge.

The perfect calm water in the mangroves

A family of howler monkeys on the edge of the water

We went with canoe rather than motorboat so we could see all the wildlife up close

After spending other night in the bush collecting insects, this time with Robert, 3 other bug crazy people and a real bed, we were dropped off at La Union and caught a small train to the visitor centre in refuge Cuero y Salado. We went for a tour of the mangrove forest by canoe. Our guide did most of the paddling and attemped to tell us about the refuge in Engligh. We saw (and heard) howler monkeys, a baby Caimen, bats and lots of birds. The refuge is also home to manatees.
