Canopy tour in the tropical rainforest

We were in La Ceiba at the right time to catch the annual Honduras Independence day parade down the main street. This is the only cultural event that La Ceiba has so we were lucky to see it.

The marching bands were good and had some interesting instruments such as tin cans.

We found this tiny frog in the jungle.

The Zip line at Jungle Lodge.

Karen on one of the longer Ziplines.

The locals burn these termite mounds to keep the moskitos away. They also eat them- they taste like carrots.

Jungle River lodge

16 September 2009

We went and stayed at Jungle lodge on the Rio Cangrejal and did a Canopy tour. Our guides took us down ziplines through the canopy and showed us lots of different plant and animal species and how the locals use them.

In the afternoon we explored the jungle paths around the lodge. I found some cool butterflies and almost stepped on a snake.
