We make it to North Cape just as the sun is setting.
We spent the day fishing and snorkelling along this coast and had a massive feed that night or pouriri, red mokey, paua and crabs over our open fire.
A cool little hermit crab
We caught heaps of porori.
A nice big Red Mokey
Our cool kiwi we drew at NZ's largest sand dunes near Cape Reinga

I joined my flatmate Ryan for few days on a mission up north to get to North Cape, the most northern point of NZ on the Aupouri Peninsula (not Cape Reinga like everyone thinks).
After getting lost and stuck on the endless rugged metal forestry roads on the first night, the locals confirmed that no one ever goes out there because of the locked gates, shitty 4 wheel drive roads, steep cliffs and scientific reserve and they just thought we were crazy. So we kitted up our packs and headed off by foot on what turned out to be a 12 hour return hike, with the last 6 hours being through the night under the stars. But we made it.
