I convincingly made the New Zealand Senior team today as first NZ C1 boat along with James and Hamish.
It did not have the best race as the technical course really challenged my consistency. I found myself lightly brush a couple of gates in the first run and lost some time on the boils of gate 15 (a downstream in an eddie) finishing in 5th place in the first. I gained a few seconds in my second run moving up into 4th place ONLY .3 of a second from being on the podium in 3rd place.
Mike had the best race for the kiwis taking out the title in the K1 mens.
It’s a drive up to Auckland tonight to fly out to Sydney tomorrow.
