Last days in Bangkok

12, 13, and 14 January 2013

We had a busy last few days in Bangkok. We went shopping, visited the weekend market, went to a show, look around china town, did a tuk tuk jade tour, checked out the malls, tried some nice restaurants and market food and had a thai massage.

The Jim Thompson House. This guy was weaving silk thread from silk moth cocoons

The silk thread produced from the cocoons

The actual silk moths feeding on mulberry leaves

We went to the world famous Siam Niramit show. It was all about the history of Thailand. It was really well done with elephants walking alone the stage, flying people, a real river and waterfall............

The stage somehow turned into the actual river with canoes paddling alone it.

There were huge props like ships and statues and about a hundred people performing in it.

There were people flying al over the stage. At one point there must have been 10 people in the air

This was in the sky train

Thought this symbol for no sex in taxi was funny. This was on our way home from our belated Christmas dinner at a fancy thai restaurant.

We did a scam tuk tuk tour which turned into a scam tour which was funny as we knew exactly what they were doing. They took us to a Wat where a guy recommended we buy jade (was they wrong wat to what they said), then they took us to a jade shop to try and make us buy jade lol. Finally we asked to go to china town where there were big markets and lots of restaurants (it was a shame to see shark fin soup on almost all the menus).

One of the many wats.

Thai Ronald Mcdonald on Khao san road. We stopped for a thai oil massage which was fantastic apart from the trying to click my fingers, arms toes etc at the end of it.

We spend the entire day at the Chatuchak weekend market. They sold everything and anything here. This is the que from the train station after the market closed.
